Showie as we call him came as an very unruly weanling. I started him with halter work. LOTS of ground manners, with very strict rules about girls! So strict that we just put him in with them and let them teach him where he need to be and that was at the opposite end of the arena ( of course these girl were not in season and we made sure of that) . He soon realized that it was a lot more fun to play with the humans. They always gave him something different and fun to do.. So from the very beginning he was very much socialized and always allowed out to play with the boys. He started his show career in his very first year. Going to many schooling shows and halter classes. He went to the International fjord show in Libby Montana (winning, both the yearling and open ground driving classes). At home he has to pull a tire or the small cart. He is ground driven through all the neighbor hoods and even had shoes put on his feet. His is very proud to carry the American flag on the 4th of July.

Showie just turned 3 this spring. He had a very tough year last year as he went home to visit his owners for a while. He had an accident that nearly ended his life. He jumped over a wheelbarrow and broke the wooden handle. It pierce him right thru the stomach. He was rushed to the Philchuck animal hospital. He had to have surgery. They did not give him good odds for surviving. I went to see him several times. He got very sick and everyone was praying for him. And miraculously they were answered.

Showie came home and spent the next several months in close confinement whiles his insides healed. Now he is back and ready to work. I am so impressed by him. He has not forgotten a thing and is so happy to please and be alive, that I think his story needs to be told.
